Kelly,
I find it concerning that the new Trade Secretary would appear to be a dire hard climate change denier. Please see the article below that is based on Ms Trevelyan’s tweets.
How does this sit with the Prime Ministers targets which, as I have raised concerns about previously, have no plan for being achieved. (Please refer to Climate Change Committees latest report which heavily criticised this Government’s lack of direction and action) I would welcome your opinion’s on the positive’s of appointing a climate change denier to this critical role at a critical time just prior to the most important COP meeting.
The link to the article is below for your ease:-

I look forward to your response.

Dear Julian,
Thank you for your email.
The UK Government is a recognised global leader in tackling climate change and, as host of COP26 in Glasgow this November, is calling on all other nations to increase their climate commitments to the highest level of ambition possible. The Trade Secretary has a vital part to play in satisfying this agenda. I would not support this appointment, as I do, were I in any doubt whatsoever as to the commitment of the appointee to the HMG's climate change objectives.
I hope this has provided some reassurance to you on this matter. I look forward to engaging with the new Secretary of State on this and other issues.
I hope this information is helpful, please do not hesitate to contact if I can be of further assistance in the future.
Best wishes,
Kelly
