Save the Paddock
We totally oppose the destruction of the Paddock in Chatham for the construction of a bus depot. The Horse Chestnut, a British mainstay since the 1500s, is in deep trouble in Britain because of a rise in pests and diseases arriving from Europe in recent years. We could attribute this to warmer summers and particularly warmer winters which may result from climate change due to CO2 emissions.
About 76% of these trees are showing signs of bleeding canker. This makes it most important for the future of this species of tree that each tree, infected or otherwise, is cared for to the highest standard. 83 % of the people of Medway opposed the council plans when asked 2 years ago, but Medway council have chosen not to listen to the people who pay their allowances.
This is another example of the un-democratic way we are abused by Medway council. The way Medway council exclude all opposition is appalling and even the audit commission criticised Medway for its terrible lack of proper consultation with the tax payers.
